Member Communication Guidelines

There are 3 ways for WOA members to communicate to other WOA members:

1. The WOA "members only" mailing list
(email address woa@world-ostrich.org)

The WOA "members only" mailing list is for communication of Industry related matters, Newsletters and active discussion on Association and Industry matters. It's purpose is to establish better communications between WOA Membership sharing information and discussing WOA matters and the Ostrich Industry as they come about. All new WOA members are automatically subscribed to this mailing list with the email address they gave at signup so it is very important that all members keep the WOA Secretary informed of email address changes. All members no longer considered "Active" memberships are unsubscribed from this "members only" mailing list at the time their membership became inactive.

This mailing list cannot be used for direct advertising without prior approval of the Board of Directors. A definition of direct advertising is stated below.

There are no archive records of list messages.

2. The WOA "members only" Bulletin Board
(http://www.world-ostrich.org/woaboard/wwwboard.html - Member Username & Password required)

The Bulletin Board is available to members:

- To promote their services and products
- To ask specific questions relating to production, processing or marketing
- To follow questions and answers on a specific topic.

Any WOA member can post items "for sale" or items "wanted to buy" on the Bulletin Board. The Bulletin Board is a service of the World Ostrich Association membership. Members can place advertising for their wares on the Bulletin Board if they so desire. Members can also respond to messages by clicking on the subject line of any message listed in the Bulletin Board and typing the response as a follow-up message. The Bulletin Board also allows commercial URL's.

Messages posted to the Bulletin Board remain available for viewing as the messages stay on the web site permanently for all members to see.

3. The WOA "members On-Line Chatroom"
(http://www.world-ostrich.org/chatroom - Member Username & Password required)

The Chatroom enables members to discuss specialist topics with other members.

There is a facility to save discussions so long as this is carried out before logging out. The text must be copied to a text file and saved on your computer. These discussions do not remain on the server.

NOT Allowed with all methods of communication:

- "Off-color" or "abusive" language.
- Degrading comments about other members, individuals, or companies.

Any offenders will be promptly and immediately removed from the WOA Mailing list without warning. Such messages posted to the Bulletin Board will be removed immediately.

Permissible Advertising on "members only" mailing list (woa@world-ostrich.org):

- Introductions of a general manner, written as a normal email that can include contact details and a URL
- When responding to emails asking for help, goods or services explaining briefly what you do and how you may be able to help
- URL's and info that form the normal signatures

Direct Advertising not allowed on the "members only" mailing list (woa@world-ostrich.org):

- Any posting marketing eggs and livestock
- Any posting marketing products
- Any posting marketing services
- Any marketing literature such as price lists, brochures, company newsletters, CVs etc.
